Our gas safety inspection programme has now started.

The Association are required under Health & Safety legislation to maintain all gas appliances it provides in a safe condition. As well as carrying out necessary repairs and maintenance work on gas appliances we carry out annual inspections to check the condition of appliances and flues.

Our contractor, J. Frood & Sons, 47 Wellgate, Lanark, ML11 9DS who is a Gas Safe Registered contractor will carry out the safety inspections on the Association’s behalf.

If your home has gas central heating, you will receive a letter that will give you notice of when your gas safety inspection will take place. The letter will also contain contact details on who you can contact to make alternative arrangements for your inspection if the arranged date causes significant inconvenience to you.

This safety inspection is intended to ensure that gas appliances in your home are safe and that they do not present a danger to you, any other household members, and your neighbours. Carbon monoxide poisoning can kill, and gas leaks can cause explosions – having a gas safety inspection will ensure that your appliances are safe and that any repairs that may be required can be identified by the gas engineer and carried out as soon as possible.

Due to the importance of the gas safety inspection, we will, as advised in your appointment letter, recharge you for any missed appointments. If you do not give access on 3 separate occasions we will seek permission to force access to the property to carry out the inspection and any repairs required. We would also raise action to recover all costs from tenants associated with abortive contractor costs and legal costs.

We would greatly appreciate tenant’s full cooperation with this matter.
