It has come to our attention that there has been tampering with electric meters at some tenanted properties. CHA wishes to make it absolutely clear that this is a serious breach of both safety regulations and tenancy conditions.
Tampering with electrical systems is extremely dangerous and poses a significant risk to life — not only to those involved, but also to our staff, contractors, and other residents. Unauthorised interference with any electrical infrastructure can lead to fire, electrocution, and other potentially fatal incidents.
CHA has a zero-tolerance policy regarding this behaviour. Any tenant found tampering with, bypassing, or interfering with electric meters in any way will be reported immediately to the relevant authorities. This may also result in the termination of their tenancy with CHA.
We take this matter with the utmost seriousness. Where we are made aware of illegal tampering at any of our properties, an inspection will be carried out without notice to ensure safety and compliance.
If you are aware of any such activity or have concerns, we urge you to report it immediately and in confidence.
Your cooperation in this matter is essential.
